Arson Attacks on Starmer-Linked Homes Lead to Seven and Two-Year Sentences

Two men, Ukrainian national Roman Lavrynovych (22) and Romanian national Stanislav Carpiuc (27), have been jailed for seven and two years respectively for carrying out a series of overnight arson attacks in May 2025 targeting property linked to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The properties included Starmer's former London residence—where his sister-in-law and her family were living—and a car he previously owned. The court heard that the pair had no political motivations and were paid to commit the crimes by a Telegram user named "El Money", whom the BBC identified as a 23-year-old Russian diplomat's son. While UK counter-terrorism police stated there was no direct evidence linking the crimes to a Russian state threat, Prime Minister Starmer welcomed the convictions and noted that the attacks must be viewed in the broader context of Russia's ongoing war with Ukraine and Western sanctions.
